Using your own domain, step by step

How to connect a domain like preventivi.yoursite.it to Okeh with Cloudflare, Aruba or Register.it: TXT and CNAME records, verification, certificate.

Pro plan

Your own domain is included in the Pro plan and in the trial. You can connect up to 3 domains.

By default your links are yourname.okeh.app/preventivo. With your own domain they become, for example, preventivi.yoursite.it/preventivo. Use a subdomain such as preventivi or doc, so your main website stays as it is.

1. Add the domain in the dashboard

  1. Open Impostazioni (Settings), Indirizzo (Address) tab.
  2. In Collega un dominio tuo (Connect your own domain), enter the subdomain, for example preventivi.yoursite.it, and press Aggiungi (Add).
  3. The domain appears in Indirizzi (Addresses) as Da verificare (To be verified), with the records to create. Leave the page open.

2. Create the DNS records

The first is a TXT record that proves the domain is yours. The code is different for each account, and you find it in the dashboard next to the domain:

FieldValue
TypeTXT
Name_okeh-verify.preventivi (some providers want the full name, _okeh-verify.preventivi.yoursite.it)
Valuethe okeh-verify=... code you see in the dashboard
TTLautomatic or 1 hour

The second is a CNAME record with these values:

FieldValue
TypeCNAME
Namepreventivi (the part before your domain)
Targetyourname.okeh.app (your base address)
TTLautomatic or 1 hour

If your provider doesn't allow CNAME records, create an A record pointing to 152.89.254.42.

With Cloudflare

  1. Log in to Cloudflare and open your domain.
  2. Go to DNS, then Records, and press Add record.
  3. Type: CNAME. Name: preventivi. Target: yourname.okeh.app.
  4. Also add the TXT record: Type TXT, Name _okeh-verify.preventivi, Content the code from the dashboard.
  5. Proxy status: DNS only, with the grey cloud. With the orange cloud, verification fails.
  6. Press Save.

With Aruba

  1. Log in to the Aruba customer area and open the domain.
  2. Look for the domain's DNS management. If your DNS is managed by Aruba, you find the list of records.
  3. Add a CNAME record: name preventivi, value yourname.okeh.app.
  4. Add a TXT record: name _okeh-verify.preventivi, value the code from the dashboard.
  5. Save. Aruba can take a few hours to apply the change.

With Register.it

  1. Log in to the Register.it customer area and select the domain.
  2. Open the DNS section, then record management.
  3. Add a CNAME record: name preventivi, target yourname.okeh.app.
  4. Add a TXT record: name _okeh-verify.preventivi, value the code from the dashboard.
  5. Save the configuration.

Note

Providers' menu items change over time. If you can't find them, search for "DNS management" in your provider's help pages, or ask their support to create the TXT and CNAME records shown above.

3. Verify and make it primary

  1. Go back to Impostazioni, Indirizzo tab, and press Verifica (Verify) next to the domain. We check the TXT record first, then the CNAME. If a record isn't active yet, try again later: sometimes it takes a few hours.
  2. Once it's verified, press Rendi principale (Make primary). From then on, new links use your domain.
  3. The HTTPS certificate switches on by itself the first time the domain is opened.

You can leave the TXT record in place: it does no harm, and it's useful if you ever reconnect the domain. Old links with yourname.okeh.app keep working.
